Nuorten Ystävät’s Huoltoasema takes care of festivalgoers
During a hectic festival day, your mind and body might need a little breather. Nuorten Ystävät’s Huoltoasema (Service Station) is the perfect spot for that: take a seat in the tire lounge, test your language of love, or snap a selfie or add some glitter before the next show.
Nuorten Ystävät is a nationwide, multidisciplinary non-profit organisation that offers free support to people of all ages in the areas of well-being, employment, parenting, recovery from substance abuse, and general life management. This 118-year-old organisation operates in 14 locations and online throughout Finland. This year, Nuorten Ystävät is bringing the Huoltoasema concept to Qstock, where you can stop for a moment to refuel your mental well-being and catch your breath amid the festival buzz.
Onnikka and Sauma teams offer support
Nuorten Ystävät has recently launched new initiatives that offer free support specifically for young people.
The Onnikka project provides expert assistance to prevent loneliness and mental health issues among young people in small municipalities in Northern Ostrobothnia. Middle school and secondary school students, as well as their parents, can reach out for help with challenges both big and small. Whether it is difficulties with school, challenges related to mental health or neuropsychiatric conditions, or feelings of loneliness, our team is here to help.
The Sauma project, on the other hand, is aimed at young people for whom drug use has become a problem. Sauma offers low-threshold conversation support as well as help in finding and accessing appropriate services in the Oulu area.
Experts will be on site at the booth on both days of the festival until 7:30 p.m. You can stop by for a moment if the care light is flashing or if you just need to clear your head.
– For example, you can talk to our substance abuse professionals and get tips on how to take care of a friend who’s under the influence, says project coordinator Salla Lepistö of the Sauma project.
During your conversation, you may also have the chance to pick up a festival maintenance package or a bottle of water.
Discover your language of love and add some sparkle on your face
One of the experiences at the “service station” is the love language test, which helps you explore your own way of experiencing and expressing love and caring. This short test provides insight into what matters to you in relationships.
– Recognising your own patterns can help you understand yourself and others better. Even a small insight can stay with you long after the festival is over, says Meeri Juusola from the Onnikka project run by Nuorten Ystävät.
Huoltoasema also features a customised mirror station where you can add a touch of glitter and snap a photo coloured with encouraging thoughts to take home as a souvenir.
The Nuorten Ystävät Huoltoasema is located between the Qstock Main Stage and the Food Court. You are warmly welcome to stop by Nuorten Ystävät’s very own Service Station!
