Originally from Utsjoki, Yungmiqu AKA Mihkku Laiti is now an Oulu-based rap artist whose mother tongue is Northern Sami. His music is a combination of rough Lappish rap sounds with hard-thumping electronic basslines. Yungmiqu’s live shows have been described as ultra-energetic, and he will not leave his audience cold. Many people know Laiti from television, for he was a competitor on Talent Suomi where he made it all the way to the semifinal stage. Yungmiqu also starred in a related documentary called Rap and Reindeer. In the same year, he competed with another Sami rapper in the Sámi Grand Prix competition, also known as the Sami people’s Eurovision.
